The United States Men's National Team is back in action on the field today, for the first-time since they pipped its ticket for 2022's FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Gregg Berhalter's squad is set to begin a long summer of training and evaluation with a friendly game against Morocco within the familiar confines in Cincinnati's TQL Stadium.
Uncharacteristically, Berhalter has seemingly already named his starting lineup a full 24 hours ahead of kickoff.
With the exception of a few notable absences due to injuries the team is a very strong team to begin the season with. One interesting tactic is Brenden Aaronson. He is expected to play in a central midfield position instead of the position of winger that he typically plays.
While they're usually used to gain repetition and increase acquaintance with the system as well as between players, this window is a new degree of scrutinization. It will be one of the few times Berhalter can form an entire team prior to the World Cup and his evaluation process is now nearing its peak. There's only so many minutes in a day, so if any player gets the chance to play to play, their performance will be put under a very close scrutiny.
